Message from the Principal
Kia ora koutou,

With just over a week of the school year to go, there is a real buzz of excitement in anticipation of the upcoming celebrations and activities that the school has planned.

By now you will have received an email informing you if your child will be receiving an award or certificate at our upcoming Awards Assembly on Tuesday 12th December, 11am. This is a special occasion where we celebrate a wide range of achievements of our students. We hope you can attend. It is a formal event with all students required to wear the correct full school uniform, not P.E gear or sports hoodies.

On Wednesday 13th December we will be holding our Year 8 Graduation ceremony. An invitation will be sent out to students and their families shortly. Whānau are welcome to attend this ceremony if they wish. This will be followed by an afternoon function for Year 8 students only. This is a special, formal function. Year 8 students are able to dress in special clothes, cultural or other dress up or they may instead choose to wear their full school uniform. This does not include P.E uniform, sports hoodies or casual mufti.
On this day, our Year 7 Students will finish school half an hour early at 2.30pm to allow for the smooth running of our Year 8 Graduations celebrations. We thank you for your understanding of this.

Last week a notice was sent home with all our students, as well as emailed out to all parents and caregivers, about a trip to the National Youth Theatre production show of High School Musical that the school will be attending this Friday and also our Recreation Day at the Panmure Lagoon Pool and Leisure Centre on the last day of school. These are both free for all our students to attend, but we do require your permission to allow them to attend both of these events. Please ensure you have got your permission slip returned to the class teacher as soon as possible.

Last Friday a number of different groups performed in our Arts Showcase for the wider school and parents. They did a wonderful job sharing cultural dances, orchestral and band pieces and dance group choreography. Congratulations to everyone who was involved.

We were honoured last Friday to also have ex NZ Football Fern players, Dr Barbara Cox and Elaine Collins, together with ex All Whites player Harry Ngata who works for PUMA, visit the school to gift all the Year 7 Central Zone Football girls PUMA football boots! Our girls were overwhelmed and excited to try them out. We appreciate the generosity and support.

It has been great to see the analysis of our end of year progress data. Significant increases in achievement across all core learning areas, year levels and groups is evident. Thank you for your ongoing support with your child’s learning this year.

End of year Reports will go home with your child on Wednesday 13th December.

We look forward to a fantastic last week!

Ngā mihi nui,
Kristen Walsham
