Last week marked the 51st anniversary of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori! Te reo is a taonga, a living, breathing language that endures āke āke āke – a forever language. Congratulations to Kāuri (pictured below left) who took out our House Haka battle to be the 2026 reigning champions.

Our production of Moana Jr. this week was outstanding! Our cast delivered heartfelt performances, demonstrating wonderful talent through music, dance, acting and humor—we could not be prouder of our students. They created memories that will last a lifetime and showed incredible dedication and teamwork throughout. A special thank you to Whaea Jody Stewart for her exceptional direction, as well as the production team who helped bring the magic to life with a stunning set, sound, lighting and costuming.

Thank you to everyone who supported our recent fundraiser mufti day for Jason’s family. Together we raised over $1,400.

Coming up in Week Two next term we have 20 students heading off to Japan to visit our sister city in Munakata City, Fukuoka. This exchange has been happening for the last 26 years and enduring friendships have been formed. Next year we hope to have a group from Japan come down to visit us so we can share all the wonderful things Mt Roskill and wider Auckland have to offer. Keep an eye on our facebook page for our adventures while we are in Fukuoka and Tokyo.
Term 4 will also see our Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) programme for Year 8 students. This involves many exciting, fun and challenging activities across 3 days at various locations within Auckland. Information about this will be sent out early next term.

Congratulations to all our athletes and a massive thank you to all those involved in getting our students to AIMS, and in particular we want to acknowledge the contributions of Angela Jury, Matt Marks, Adele Turnbull, Miss Golding and Mr Maskell for going above and beyond for our students. Thank you also to our other coaches, managers and parent supporters who supported the teams and made AIMS Games possible.

As part of our Board's strategic planning, we would like to hear your thoughts on what makes our school special and what you feel should be our focus over the next couple of years. Yesterday we messaged out a link to this Strategic and Health Consultation questionnaire. Your feedback will help the Board review our current direction and guide our strategic planning for the future. Here is the link again: Strategic and Health Consultation LINK

With spring now officially here, warmer weather is hopefully on the way as we head into the holiday break and the start of daylight saving. There has been a lot of illness over the past few weeks, so we hope this break provides a welcome chance to rest and recharge before a busy Term 4. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Safe Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminder
With the new bridge on Denbigh Ave opening, we would like to remind all families about vehicle access to the school and the importance of keeping our school community safe.
Cars are not permitted to drive into the Campus for School drop off and pick up, at the start and end of the school day. Families are asked to use the neighbouring streets instead.
Please be respectful of our neighbours, parking safely and ensuring not to block their driveways. Plan your journey accordingly and allow a little extra time during these busy periods.
