Message from the Principal
This term is racing by with new activities and initiatives taking place all the time. We are excited to perform ‘Moana Jr', this year for our annual school Production. Casting is currently underway for the show at the end of Term three. We are looking forward to seeing the great talent of our students shine!

The weeks are now a hive of activity with chess teams, sports teams and academies, bands, dance groups, culture group, Kapa Haka, language classes and enhancements underway. Students are encouraged to keep a close eye on the Student Notices for new groups and opportunities that they can take part in.

Our Term 1 Whānau Hui and Pasifika Fono were held recently, that came together for a shared session afterwards focussing on pathways to university and the important senior years of high school. We are extremely grateful to Ana Nicholson and Kat Ma, from the University of Auckland, who spoke on the night. We have had positive feedback about how worthwhile this was, thank you to the whānau who attended.

This week we held our Talanoa Ako, Learning conversations. This was an opportunity to meet, together with your child and their teacher, to talk about their learning. There will be another opportunity for this in Term Three.

As you will be aware, the New Zealand curriculum has changed and the learning expectations are now different. Thank you to those who attended our Parent Workshops. By working together with you we can help your child to really get the most from their learning. Resource packs to support learning at home were provided. We will organise a follow up parent workshop next term to update on any new information.

Last week we emailed all families their child's attendance percentage for the term so far. We aim for all our students to be above 90%, so let’s make sure that we attend every day right up until the end of term.

Thank you to the students and families who contributed to our mufti-day fundraiser for Swae’s family recently. Together we raised $1290 as a koha to support her family.

Next week is ‘Art Week’! Your child will be in one of their art choices, running from next Tuesday 24th to Friday 27th March, creating an amazing art work that will be shown in our art exhibition on Tuesday 31st March (Please see the flyer).
We have a wide range of exciting activities taking place. Students are asked to wear old clothes, Tuesday to Friday next week. This is to protect their uniforms.

On Monday 23rd March, school photographs will take place. Please ensure your child is in the correct formal school uniform (not sports p.e gear) for the photographs. Information about ordering your photos will be provided at a later date by Photolife.

Due to health and safety and hair lice (nits), we are asking all students with hair past their shoulders to please tie their hair back. This is a great opportunity, using hair ties/ ribbons to show your ‘House Colours’. Alternatively, please use black hair ties. Thank you for your support with this.

Reach for distant goals, so they seem close for you to grasp,
But hold fast to those that are close to you, so you can attain them

Lost Property
We have a very large pile of lost property here in the office. If your child has misplaced any items this term, please ask them to come to the office.
We will display Lost Property for the students to look through, prior to the end of term. Any unclaimed items at the end of term will be repurposed and/or disposed of.
This is a timely reminder to please ensure that your child's uniform is named.
